If you happen to have a glass shower door in your bathroom, then you probably already know how it helps to make your bathroom appear larger than it actually is. That’s the good news. On the other hand, when it comes to keeping your bathroom sparkling clean, the glass door tends to pose the biggest challenge. That’s the bad news.
Luckily, there are some things that you can do that will help to keep your glass shower door spotless. If you’re interested in knowing what some of those things are, we’ve got a list of five helpful and highly-effective tips below:
Use a dryer sheet. If you have a washer and dryer in your house, then there’s a pretty good chance that you also have some dryer sheets too. Well, when it comes to removing soap scum off of your glass shower doors, dryer sheets are one of the most effective ways to do it. All you have to do is wet the dryer sheet with plain water and then scrub the door with it. You should be able to see through the glass in no time.
Use an old newspaper. If you don’t happen to have a washer/dryer unit or you’re fresh out of dryer sheets and you’re crunched for time, something else that you can do is use an old newspaper. Although you can also slightly wet it to take a lot of the grime and marks off of your door, newspaper is actually the most effective when it comes to removing streaks.
Squeeze some lemon juice. Something else that you can use to make your shower door sparkle is apply a bit of fresh lemon juice to it. All that you literally have to do is cut a lemon in half and then rub it against the front and backside of your door. You can do this whether the door is wet or dry. Then, once you are done, you can rinse off the door and use a couple of paper towels to dry it off.
Get a squeegee. If you were to ask a glass company like Knock on Glass about an effective way to keep your glass shower clean , something that they would probably recommend is that you invest in a squeegee. If you’re not familiar with what those are, they basically look like the tool that gas stations use if you request full service and they offer to clean your windshield for you. They usually cost somewhere between $10-20 and you can find them at your local home improvement store or Walmart.
Try some vinegar and water. A wonderful all-purpose cleaning solution is vinegar. And when it comes to your glass shower door, you can use it by pouring a half and half solution of vinegar and water into a spray bottle. After you do that, tape some paper towels to your door, spray them with the solution and leave the paper towels up for between 30-45 minutes, then remove the towels and rinse the door off with clean water. It removes spots, soap scum and limescale too. It’s a quick way to make a big difference in the appearance of your glass shower door.
